Financial Victory!

Wow!

Our church family finished this fiscal year in financial victory. God fulfilled His promises through the faithfulness of His people. 2 Corinthians 9:10,11 says, “Now the One who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness, as you are enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.” Over the last two months, God enriched us to be generous. Now we give Him thanks.

If you recall, in August we were on pace to fall short of our annual ministry budget by at least $41,000 (7%). Such a deficit would have required severe budget cuts going into the 2021-2022 budget year. To get out of this predicament, our church family needed to give enough to meet our regular budget requirements for August and September and the amount by which we were behind. In other words, we needed to receive $149,238 in gifts over the final eight weeks of our fiscal year (which runs Oct-Sept) to make budget.

In response to this concern, we set ourselves to prayer. We challenged our member families to either start tithing, catch-up on their giving, or to step-up and give above and beyond the tithe. We did all these things with the belief that God would provide for our church.

By last Thursday, September 30, at 5:00 PM, we had received $591,500.29 in contributions for the year! This means we missed the budget by less than 1%! This is way better than a 7% budget deficit and it is a huge financial victory for our church! I am amazed at how our church family responded.

It is important to mark times like this when we witness the Lord moving through us in dramatic ways. Surely there will be other times when our trust will be tested, but stories like these strengthen our faith and remind us that the Lord is faithful.
